Indiana’s education rules and regulations are contained in Title 511 of the Indiana Administrative Code, which can be found at http://www.in.gov/legislative/iac/title511.html. IAC 511 addresses multiple aspects of education. Two articles of IAC 511 are particularly relevant to school psychologists.
Article 4, often referred to as the Student Services Rules, defines student services such as student assistance services (e.g., prevention, assessment, intervention, and referral), educational and career services, and health services. Article 4 also specifies the personnel qualified to provide these services. School Psychologists are among those included in Article 4. Additional information regarding the Student Services Rule can be found on the IDOE Office of Student Services website at http://www.doe.in.gov/sservices/.
Article 7, the Special Education Rules and Regulations, defines the requirements for special education administrative procedures, evaluation, eligibility, and services. School Psychologists are required members of special education multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the special education processes and decision making. Additional information regarding the Special Education Rules and Regulations can be found on the IDOE Special Education website at http://www.doe.in.gov/specialed.
